Affirmed Networks, an Acton-based network technology company with $163 million in investment, has released a new service meant to help telecommunications giants support the rise of internet-connected devices. The so-called “internet of things” – in which all kinds of equipment is embedded with internet-connected sensors – will dramatically increase the amount of data sent over networks operated by the likes of Verizon and AT&T. Affirmed’s virtualization software allows internet and telecommunications service providers to better handle and manage that flow of data.
