Looking back on 2015, it’s safe to say that the year was one to remember. From the start, it was increasingly clear that the change in the telecommunications market was going to increase rapidly, and we at Affirmed have been very excited to to play a vital part in strengthening and driving this growth.
When Forbes named us one of their “Next Billion Dollar Start-ups”, it was a tremendous honor to be recognized among other revolutionaries that made a meaningful impact on their industry. We continue to look forward to contributing to the growth of mobile industry, helping our customers innovate and build revenue streams, as well as expanding the role of virtualization in major mobile networks worldwide.
Further validation came through successful deployments with major operators in the Netherlands, Finland, and South Korea. We strengthened our virtualization ecosystem with partners like Wind River, as well as expanding our Openstack support with HP Enterprise and their carrier-grade HPE Helion Cloud Solution. Compelling research in the area of Total Cost of Ownership of network virtualization demonstrated that operators can achieve game-changing CAPEX and OPEX savings.
In the support of the ever-growing expansion of mobile services, we announced the launch of the first fully-virtualized Wi-Fi gateway for trusted and untrusted network access. Soon after that, we helped Saudi Telecom go live with an M2M deployment. Most recently, we were selected by Telus in Canada to support their IoT service offering and Aire Networks in Spain with their move to NFV. Needless to say, it has been a very exciting year for Affirmed Networks. Lastly, we continue to support AT&T as a Domain 2.0 partner with a goal of virtualizing 75% of its network by 2020.
For 2016, the evolution of mobile networks will continue to accelerate as the diversity of data services – from M2M to IoT – will increase the need for operators to scale flexibly and cost-efficiently. To this end, we have exciting announcements coming in the months ahead, and believe that this will be our best year yet. We’re thankful to have a team here at Affirmed that is committed to creating the very best virtualization technology, and to have global customers who share in our vision to transform the future of mobile networks.
